Field Visits
Field visits have been organised to clinics at or near urban slums. Delegates will get an opportunity to personally observe the activities being conducted and interact with the medical workers and the beneficiaries. Also, they will experience and see the changes being brought about through the activities.
On 12 Feb 2015, there will be two field trips; Delegates may book for any one of the two trips. On 13 Feb 2015, there will be two field trips; Delegates may book for any one of the two trips. Similarly, on 14 Feb 2015, there will be three field trips; Delegates may book for any one of the three trips. Arrangements possible for a limited number of participants on a first come first served basis.
Following is brief description of the field trips arranged. The charges for site visits will be donated to the organization/institution visited, after deduction of actual costs. MR Bangur Hospital:
MR Bangur Hospital, an ISO 9001:2008 certified Government Hospital, is the district hospital of South 24 Parganas. The Missionaries of Charity serve the poorest of the poor at their Homes for the dying destitute, abandoned children, and physically and mentally challenged persons. One can volunteer to help the sisters in their selfless service for those who have nobody who will care for them. National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED):
National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases is where Robert Koch cultured the cholera organism which he first visualized in Alexandria, Egypt. Nearly 70 years later, the toxin that caused cholera was discovered in India by S. N. De in Kolkata and by N. K. Dutta in Mumbai. NICED is the WHO Collaborative Centre for Research and Training on Diarrhoeal Diseases.
